Percutaneous thrombectomy in the management of early rethrombosis in venous thoracic outlet syndrome: two case reports

Abstract Background Venous thoracic outlet syndrome resulting in the upper limb deep venous thrombosis is known as Paget–Schroetter or effort thrombosis. A general treatment algorithm includes catheter-directed thrombolysis followed by surgical decompression. There are limited data regarding endovascular of rethrombosis presenting early after surgery. Case presentation Two cases successfully treated with percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy two different techniques described. In both cases, was diagnosed soon and first rib resection scalenectomy. After 12 months, patients remain symptom-free, patent subclavian veins confirmed duplex ultrasonography. Conclusion Percutaneous devices may offer a safe option for recurrent surgery, even when thrombolytic therapy contraindicated.
